Rola develops 3 wheel bike carrier in aid of charity

Posted 03/04/2013

Rola, Australia’s iconic brand for roof racks and cargo carrying accessories, has designed and developed a purpose-built three-wheel bike carrier for Alex Gale-Grime – a regular charity fundraiser and Spina Bifida sufferer.

Alex and her father have been raising money for various charities around the world for a number of years, mainly involving charity bike rides for causes that bring awareness to and encourage mobility. Boyd on by her own challenges, Alex and her father Warrick have participated in events such as CyclePower Fiji 2013 – a 550 kilometre ride that, amongst other things, raised funds for Victorian’s with disability to participate in sport.

With a number of other charity events under her belt, Alex is preparing for her next challenge – a solo charity bike ride around Thailand. As this will be Alex’s first ride without her father by her side, the pair approached Rola for help in designing and building a 3 wheeled bike carrier so Alex could transport her bike and train on her own.

Excited by what lies ahead, Alex said: “Thanks to Rola I have more freedom to take my bike with me wherever I go. The specially designed ramps make it easy for me to get my bike on and off the roof and will allow me to train whenever I want”.

Rola’s three wheeled bike carrier consists of three tracks mounted to the roof rack cross bars. With the aid of specially designed ramps, the bike can easily be wheeled onto the roof and secured in place with purpose built bindings. It will be available for purchase via Rola’s website in the coming months.
